Over the last year and a half, the Kanawha County Commission embarked on an ambitious effort to revitalize Shawnee Park in Dunbar into an impressive multi-sport complex. The first phase of the Shawnee Sports Complex, the soccer fields, opened this past summer and the baseball/softball complex is currently under construction. Thanks to the good work and vision of Kanawha County Commissioners Kent Carper, Ben Salango, and Henry Shores, the Shawnee Sports Complex is an impressive new resource for our community. We are pleased to announce that, thanks to the generous support of CCHS alumni, Greg and Kim Burton, along with their sons Nick and Nate, our baseball team will have a future home at Shawnee. The Burton Family’s significant financial contribution was the major factor in enabling us to secure a field sponsorship at Shawnee. The sponsorship gives our high school baseball team scheduling priority on the field for our home games and post season games during the high school season for the next 15 years. And our IRISH logo will be proudly displayed in the Field Turf behind the home plate circle. We are in need of others to join the Burton Family in support of this field sponsorship. Our goal is to raise $50,000. We invite you to consider becoming a sponsor for our IRISH Baseball Field at the Shawnee Sports Complex.
